Bare Bear

My Bare Bear has been with me since I was tiny. When I was 3 I threw him in the copper when Mum was doing the washing (can you imagine - three babies under three and doing the washing in a copper under trees. Before we got electricity in the Mallee...). All his lovely soft fur fell out. And when I had my tonsils out at 7 I cut him open and took out his growly bit. He is a bit worse for wear, but he has had a lovely long life. And he knows lots about me that nobody else does.
I love my Bare Bear.

The things we did to our toys when we were kids. If we saw our kids doing the same thing we would have gone ballistic!

what a lovely old bare bear, poor fellow losing his growly bit. I have a 59 yo cat, in similar state of disrepair. Used to use him to climb out of my cot! Thanks for your comments on Mum's strawberry quilt. cheers, Kt.

he's gorgeous, jas - and so loved looking :) my mum had 3 kids under 4 and did all her washing in the copper - i remember her stirring the washing with the copper stick and the great day when the hoover twin tub arrived..... and this was in metro melbourne in the 60s.

Hi Jas! A Quiltbuddy commenting----
My dad has adopted a bear and it goes geocaching with him. Yesterday they went to the California desert and looked at Stealth planes and early jets, since my dad is nuts about jets.

I am enjoying your blog--but then, I already knew you were a great writer/quilter!
